Adding Features with Power Twitter a while ago
Wow. We have had quite a response to the latest version of Power Twitter! Thanks to everyone who has been excited as well as those of you helping us iron out a few last-minute issues!
A few quick thoughts on this project. Power Twitter was designed to make the twitter experience more full-bodied. The folks at twitter are building a core competency in storing and delivering messages and understandably have been reluctant to get too bogged down in product design. This has allowed 3rd parties to build a great set of twitter clients. PT is a little bit different because it interacts directly with the twitter.com website. And because it is embedded in the browser (Firefox, we're working on Safari and Chrome) we are able to do some pretty slick things! The main features of this release include: 1) inline embedded media from Flickr, YouTube, TwitPic and others 2) expanded URLs so you can see where links might take you 3) twitter search and search results right on the page 4) peek - an avatar mouseover that lets you see recent tweets from that person 5) status updates that are happening with your friends on Facebook 6) when possible additional web updates (Flickr, blogs, etc.) for certain users We have a lot more planned including photo posting and top friends but we want to make sure things are running smoothly first. We owe a big thank you to twitter for their service, API, and site design which makes this possible. In fact, we may be entering a new era where client based extensions and design can be encouraged directly on consumer sites. The next logical step may be to sanction subdomains that access API, cookie info, as well as design hooks for given websites. Someday you might build http://yourname.google.com and do a better job with search than Google! Please chime in here or over on Get Satisfaction if you find any issues or want to see certain features. |

Phil B After installing Power Twitter, I can't access any options from the Add-ons manager? - it doesn't show up anywhere on the browser toolbar either - any thoughts? procphil a while ago |

Scott K Phil B - I noticed this too. I'm thinking b/c it interacts with the twitter page directly (had to allow JS), that (a) it's not got a toolbar button and (b) there currently aren't any options. a while ago |

Jonathan G Hi, PowerTwitter is great, I have it running in FireFox, and it did initially run in Flock. The Flock install has since ceased to function. Any ideas why this may be? a while ago |

Kathy P To those that are saying it doesn't show up on Firefox. I thought I was having the same problem, then I noticed on my Twitter page, in small letters above the Word Twitter is the word "power" and where you update your content is now shows "add a photo" or "shorten a link". I think folks that Power Twitter works bedded within the Firefox browser window to interact Directly with Twitter on the twitter page itself. a while ago |

John C From..."Kathy P To those that are saying it doesn't show up..." you are absolutely correct. I just installed Power Twitter, looked at your comment and you are right on. Thx! a while ago |
